Some MJ fans may hate on me for this, but I only first discovered Michael's music in high school, back in 2001 or 2002, after seeing Alien Ant Farm's music video to their cover of "Smooth Criminal". The song was incredibly catchy to me; further research led me to the discovery of Michael Jackson's original version of the song and music video.
Michael's moves inspired me - in all his music videos and live performances, he always had a sharpness and grace in his steps that I had not seen before. I had never considered dancing up until this point, and found myself strangely compelled to try and emulate Michael's moves. I often played segments of his music videos on repeat in attempts to visually dissect his moves and try them for myself. Eventually, I was confident enough to put on my first MJ impersonation routine for a talent show performance in high school.
I aim to impart some of my experience and lessons learned to others so that they may also learn to move like Michael Jackson. There is something "magical" about the way Michael danced and used his body to visually complement his songs so that he truly gave his audience a memorable experience that cannot be found with other artists.
My hope is that you too can find the same fun I have using these moves.
